Field definition

Civilization Science is the proposed interdisciplinary study of the formation, functioning, stability, transformation, and long-term continuity of large-scale human systems as complex adaptive systems.

Its research object is not a civilization ranking or a deterministic theory of rise and fall. It is a bounded inquiry into observable relations among cooperation, trust-legitimacy, usable capacity, entropy pressure, institutions, networks, technologies, ecosystems, meaning, and continuity.

Complex adaptation

Civilizational outcomes emerge from heterogeneous actors, networks, institutions, environments, and feedback under incomplete information and unequal power.

Complementarity hypothesis

Cooperation, trust-legitimacy, and usable capacity may interact multiplicatively, while entropy pressure may reduce bounded stability.

Dynamic separation

The measurement function S = G(x) must be separated from the transition law xₜ₊₁ = F(xₜ,…).

Multilevel measurement

The full ontology is reduced to an identifiable state vector through an explicit, validated dimensional-reduction protocol.
